The doors of Sails on lavender bay opened in 2008 following a stunning reinvention with the McMahon's Point waterfront restaurant taking on a sophisticated and contemporary new look courtesy of renowned designers SJB Interiors.
The restaurant is perched on the shore of Sydney's magnificent harbour, Sails on Lavender Bay, with its post card views of the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge, is a perfect venue for those wanting to experience the quintessential beauty of the city.
The Menu
The menu is original and extensive - reflecting the seasons and freshness of the local produce. The new menu offers what Greg Anderson describes as "refined modern Australian" with a selection of seafood entrees such as roasted scallops, fennel puree, roasted black olives, and preserved lemons and freshly shucked rock oysters.
Choices on the main menu include suckling pig slow roasted with cracked wheat and apricot puree, seared ocean trout with sorrel puree, mushrooms and the aromatic Middle Eastern eggplant dish called Imam Bayaldi with cumin and spiced yoghurt.
On the dessert menu there is a brulee with pistachio chocolate sorbet and watermelon jelly with pomegranate, basil and ginger beer sorbet.
Anderson has appointed chef Steven Skelly to run the kitchen. Skelly has impressive seafood credentials having worked with some of Australia's top chefs including Greg Doyle, Tony Bilson and Peter Evans.
Tim Stock of Vinous Solutions has showcased an extensive wine cellar which includes 100-150 wine varietals.
