Foveaux Restaurant
Surry Hills, Sydney
Foveaux Restaurant and Bar is the creation of award winning Chef/Proprietor Darrell Felstead and combines a 45 seat restaurant with a cellar cocktail bar located amongst the fashion warehouses and creative agencies of Sydneys Surry Hills. Since its opening in April 2007, Foveaux has quickly developed a reputation as a venue that offers some of Sydney’s most creative dishes and drinks. The exposed brick of the original Schweppes factory in the restaurant has an industrial feel that gives way to the intimacy of the sandstone cellar bar creating a setting that evokes Manhattan. Voted Best New Restaurant in the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide for 2008, Felstead says the philosophy for Foveaux is simple: 'Whether its in the food on the plate or the drink in the glass, I want to give people a creative experience when they come to Foveaux. We use classic ingredients and combinations but try and give them a creative edge so that hopefully people are getting new experiences and flavours when they eat and drink with us. I want people to feel relaxed and enjoy themselves and so I have made Foveaux the place that I would want to come to.'
